First-of-Its-Kind Voice AI Uncovers New Data in Published Healthcare Study
Beyond Physician shares peer-reviewed study; pilot results show patent-pending VOICE platform uncovers decision-changing data that transcript-only AI misses.
COLUMBUS, OH, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Beyond Physician, an AI-enabled healthcare intelligence company, today shared results from a peer-reviewed study revealing previously overlooked data. Beyond Physician applied its VOICE technology to recorded interviews from an already-published study and uncovered substantial new data, including 10 distinct decision-maker profiles and 10 operational mechanisms that the original analysis did not report, backed by 242 time-stamped quotes. The same re-analysis confirmed all eight directly comparable findings of the original research. To the best of Beyond Physician’s knowledge, it is the first peer-reviewed application of voice intelligence in published research among healthcare stakeholders.
“Companies invest serious time and money in advisory boards and expert interviews, then reduce them to a summary and file the recordings. In this study, going back into those recordings showed not just what payers concluded, but how they make decisions and what evidence moves them. Most companies never analyze recordings for the depth of information available. VOICE does, and it hears what a transcript cannot,” said Navin Goyal, MD, co-founder of Beyond Physician.
The Problem
Advisory boards and expert interviews are among the most expensive research a healthcare company conducts. Most are reviewed from the transcript only for themes and percentages, and the recordings are rarely touched.
AI tools used to speed up that review share the same blind spot. A transcript captures the words but loses factors like pitch, pace, pauses, emphasis, and the energy behind an answer. Many AI services deliver a “clean” transcript that edits out the natural texture of speech entirely.
That matters because the same words can carry very different meanings. Three experts can each say, “Yes, I would use this,” one with conviction, one with reservations, and one out of politeness alone, and a transcript-only tool records three identical yeses. When advisory board findings shape decisions across a company, or across an entire category, that error compounds at scale.
VOICE was built to close that gap. It analyzes the recording, scoring what was said alongside how it was said, and is built specifically for healthcare conversations. The peer-reviewed study notes that general-purpose voice and sentiment tools are built on consumer or general-population speech and are not calibrated to healthcare communication.
What VOICE Uncovered
In the study, Beyond Physician applied VOICE to recordings of 11 US payer interviews (7 hours 52 minutes of audio) from a previously published study of how payers would cover a novel drug delivery system. VOICE scored the respondents across six dimensions, combining transcript sentiment with analysis of the audio itself.
New data the original analysis did not report:
▪️Ten distinct decision-maker profiles across 11 payers, from the Cost-Offset Pragmatist to the Cautious Evidence-Based Reviewer, each with signal phrases, operational guidance, and an anchor quote
▪️Payers who look the same on paper are not the same: Two payers whose overall scores were one point apart differed by 28 points on how tightly they would manage utilization
▪️Ten operational mechanisms payers use to put coverage into practice, including five distinct ways regional health plans steer where a drug is administered
▪️Three findings held across multiple payers rather than appearing in a single interview
▪️All of it backed by 242 verbatim quotes, each time-stamped to the recording
In the Field
In a separate pilot, Beyond Physician analyzed a 70-minute recorded partnership pitch to a healthcare practice that had already received an AI-generated recap of the meeting. Of the 17 action items in that recap, VOICE found 9 needed corrections: 7 were assigned to the wrong person, and 2 were never actually said by anyone on the call. Multiple reviewers verified every correction against the recording. VOICE also flagged moments where the delivery of key financial claims did not match the confidence of the words, giving the practice new information to weigh on the partnership.
Why It Matters
The new data from existing recordings shows the power of VOICE to create a reusable asset:
▪️Scientific and medical teams get a per-payer evidence base to design the next study
▪️Market access and marketing teams get profiles to match each message to the decision-maker in front of them
▪️Communications and investor relations get peer-reviewed findings they can stand behind
▪️Every future advisory board can be compared against the same profiles, so each one builds on the last
VOICE also reduces the time and cost of the review itself. In a full workflow simulation with a prospective client, using that client’s documented review process and Beyond Physician’s analysis runtime, Beyond Physician projected a 50-70% reduction in manual labor.
“Most companies are already using AI to review their research, but AI that only reads the transcript is missing half the conversation. Most transcription services scrub out the stutters, pauses, and hesitations to deliver a clean transcript. Those are not errors. They are the human element, and often the most honest part of what an expert tells you. We have seen what is in the audio change the narrative entirely. Delete it, and you are not cleaning up the data. You are throwing away the signal,” said Brian Penick, co-founder and Technical Architect.
What’s Next
Since launching VOICE in February, Beyond Physician has doubled its team and built a growing pipeline that includes publicly traded companies and major university partners. The company will soon announce new applications of the VOICE platform designed to benefit both healthcare professionals and medical students.
